Scarlett Johansson is an American actress and performer born in NYC in the United States on the 22nd of November, 1984. Her acting has earned an acclaim in a diverse spectrum of genres such as period dramas or thrillers, as well as action films. Johansson was born in New York City, and lived there with her father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. The twin brothers Hunter and her were her youngest siblings. At the age of seven an old, the actress started casting for commercials on television. Johansson then appeared in Just Cause, but she made her debut with Manny & Lo, a film about orphaned siblings who run away. The film received the attention of critics for her character as a teenager who has suffered a disfiguring accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) as well as further recognition as cynical teen outcast Rebecca on the set of Ghost World (2001).
