Becki Newton

Becki was born and raised within Guilford (Connecticut) However, she originated from New Haven. She's of English and Czech heritage and first began to perform musicals and plays at local theaters, and studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a B.A. European History. At Penn, Newton was a participant in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Following graduation, Newton then moved to New York City and landed numerous roles in TV commercials for companies like and the Olive Garden. Newton was Amanda Tanen from 2006-2010 in the comedy drama series Ugly Betty. Newton and the co-star Michael Urie co-hosted The Official Ugly Betty Blog. Newton also appeared on ABC.com's Mode After Hours webisode series. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010 after four successful seasons and the show was able to be given a proper series finale. Newton was the first to make her New York City Center encores debut in 2009. Jerry Zaks directed the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy. Newton played Molly Gray opposite her real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton was a part of Love Bites. The hour-long romantic comedy was co-created by the executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked on Sex and the City. NBC had first announced plans to acquire Love Bites in May 2010. But, when Newton announced her pregnancy, and her co-star Jordana Spiro was legally bound by the program My Boys to keep the show going and it was moved until the middle of season.
